We are seeking an experienced EPMO leader for our client.

The EPMO provides the Board and Executive with an enterprise-wide view of all significant (greater than $1m in value) and strategic projects across the Corporation.

The EPMO supports improved governance, tracking, and reporting of projects and is responsible for providing a project investment and delivery framework that guides a consistent approach to initiating, delivering, and reviewing projects across the Corporation project portfolios.

We are looking for an EPMO specialist who can help guide, coach, and support the acting EPMO lead while a permanent lead is recruited.

The specialist consultant EPMO will help guide, coach, and support the EPMO Senior Manager who is accountable for defining the framework, coordination, management, analysis, and evaluation of current and future projects to ensure the Corporation meets the strategic core business objectives laid down in the Statement of Corporate Intent. The EPMO Senior Manager is responsible for monitoring the Investment Programs in accordance with the Investment Review Committee and Boards Directions through the whole of the Corporation portfolio reporting. The role includes managing a small team of between 5-10 qualified PMO practitioners.

  • Ensure a clear line of sight between Enterprise Strategy and major projects and actively prioritising projects.
  • Integrates planning across projects to optimise resourcing and sequencing.
  • Provides challenges to projects and conducts quality assurance to ensure consistency.
  • Supports and enables the stage-gate process (through the Investment Review Committee).
  • Provides insight and depth on key projects reporting to senior management.
  • Continues to embed project methods and develops hands-on experience in project management.
  • Implements value management tools to assess and track project benefits against strategic objectives.
  • Build buy-in and commitment to the change journey by ensuring leadership alignment to the portfolio.
  • Ensure the right resources and assets are made available by working with procurement, managing vendors, and approving scope variations.
  • Defines the Investment Review Committee governance framework and provides secretariat support.
  • Defines the Government Relations Framework including Government Engagement Strategy and Policy.
  • Accountable for ensuring that plans to engage with government stakeholders are cohesive and that organisation is perceived as competent, compliant, and collaborative by government stakeholders.
  • Supports the Executive Leadership Team and other people in government engagement activities, including with key regulators.
  • Facilitates the organisations response to ministerial requests.

  • Extensive knowledge of program and project management standards and their application with demonstrated experience in managing a project team to deliver and implement projects successfully.
  • Successfully establishing and/or operating a Program Management Office (PMO) over an extended period of time for a large program of work (>$100m)
  • Proven ability in developing processes and procedures to deliver strategic business outcomes
  • Highly developed organisational skills, particularly the ability to balance conflicting priorities and meet deadlines in an environment undertaking continuous improvement and change.
  • Project Management accreditation (PMI, Prince 2, or AIPM).
  • Demonstrated ability in coordination and monitoring of program/ project investments including high-level reporting to stakeholders on program/ project performance.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain productive professional relationships with a range of stakeholders to achieve objectives.
  • Experience in conducting project post-implementation reviews (facilitating workshops, lessons learned, scope management, project variations as well as benefits realisation reviews).
  • Experience using an Enterprise Project Management System.
  • Use of project reporting/scheduling tools (MS Project / PowerBI).
  • Leading and delivering projects while applying procurement strategies.
Experience in the utilities/construction industry and knowledge of assets similar to those will be highly beneficial.
